HSE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Our Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System is consistent with international standards and goes hand in hand with how we run our business.

Aganith’s Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System is an integral and essential part of the way we do business. We consider it an equal part of the wider system for the management of our business.

Our HSE Management System is modeled after OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 standards. This approach helps us realize the HSE aspects of our vision, mission and values. Its purpose is two-fold:

    1. Establish an international standard for the way we manage, practice, and monitor our HSE programs; and
    2. Bring our safety programs under one Company-wide umbrella.

Our Goals

Through effective and transparent HSE management, we strive to protect our employees, to be the preferred contractor for customers and the favored employer in the oilfield services sector, and lower our worker compensation costs.

Our Framework

Our Integrated HSE Management System (MS) is comprised of a four-step process that supports Aganith’s Vision and Leadership direction. The four steps outline the foundational components of the MS and are as follows:

Planning:

The systematic planning, integrated execution and evaluation of hazards/aspects and risks; emerging issues and objectives and targets.

Doing:

Implementation and Operation: Developing and maintaining programs and procedures, conducting training, establishing operational controls to mitigate or control risks and other elements.

Checking and Corrective Action:

Conduct periodic evaluations of how the MS is functioning as well as monitor the HSE performance of the organization and ensure the implementation of corrective actions when required.

Management Review:

Conduct periodic assessments to determine how the MS is functioning with respect to how suitable, adequate and effective for the nature of the organization.

Each division must communicate these expectations to all employees, customers and third parties associated with our business. These steps are essential in helping drive continual performance improvement.

Our Promise

Our promise to our employees, shareholders and the wider public is that we will strive for continuous improvement in every area of our HSE efforts. This means continuous improvement of our standards, systems, programs, safety performance, management leadership, and employees’ awareness, knowledge, commitment and involvement.

Monitoring

Aganith’s HSE staff monitors the Company’s HSE compliance and performance on an ongoing basis. The status of any HSE issue is an agenda item on every divisional monthly review and is a standing item for all meetings of the Company’s Board of Directors.

TRAINING OUR EMPLOYEES

AS A GLOBAL DRILLING AND SERVICES COMPANY, WE TRAIN OUR WORKERS TO MAKE SAFETY A PART OF ALL THEIR ACTIVITIES EVERY DAY, BOTH ON AND OFF THE JOB.

Training starts on the first day of employment and is reinforced continuously and daily through: job safety analysis programs, personal injury prevention training, safety coaching, daily pre-job safety meetings and daily work observation practices.

Driver safety continues to be a key area of focus for Aganith. With company vehicles being driven all around the world, our divisions are working diligently on their fleet programs to reduce collision and ticketing rates from inspections, and thereby protect our employees and the public.

Global Skills Standard

Our enterprise-wide Global Skills Standard (GSS) system initiated in 2012 captures data about training, performance and experience of rig-crew members around the world to ensure they receive equivalent levels of technical and behavioural training. This creates a global, high standard of competency in Aganith employees applied to any jurisdiction in the world.

Safety Stand Down

Aganith’s Safety Stand Down is a Company-wide initiative designed to reinforce our commitment to workers’ safety.

During Safety Stand Down, which is held twice a year Company-wide, Aganith’s senior executives visit job sites in the field to raise awareness about safety issues with our frontline workers, customers and subcontractors.

Our frontline workers—the crews who work on our rigs and employees who interact regularly with our customers—form the largest group in our workforce. Most of our recordable incidents and injuries occur within this group, particularly among crews working together for the first time or those who are new to their job.

We change the theme for Safety Stand Down each year in order to focus attention on specific policies and practices.

  • We comply with all applicable laws and relevant industry standards of practice,
